TheDorset Combined Youth Justice Service (YJS) is looking for a full time Youth Justice Officer to join our stable and supportive team.The ethos of the team is "child first" and all staff have been trained in trauma informed practice and working restoratively .Main ResponsibilitiesThe role of the Youth Justice Officer is to listen to, assess the needs of children and their families / carers and come up with creative plans to help them get back on the right track. As a Youth Justice Officer you will also represent the team in Court.The Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will be creative, resourceful, supportive and will have a genuine desire to positively shape the futures of children. You will have experience of working with children and young people, a clear interest in working in the justice system and great skills in connecting with children. A key requirement is the ability to form relationships, both with children, parents and carers and with colleagues within and outside the team. Access to training and continued professional development will be available to the successful candidate.You will be a qualified Social Worker or have an equivalent qualification with an assessed level of practice. You will bring a wealth of experience working with children and teenagers, you will have a clear idea of “what good looks like” for a Youth Justice Service and you will set high standards for your own work.
