Are you an ex-army worker, police officer or security seeking a career change?

A well-established school in North Yorkshire that caters for children and young people aged 9-16 is looking for a Young Offenders Support Worker to join their growing team.

The children at this school all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Conditions (SEMH) along with mild to severe challenging behaviour, so the school is looking for a Young Offenders Support Worker who is able to build a strong rapport with their pupils and act as a positive role model.

The school can offer a full-time placement, Monday to Friday to start as soon as possible with the possibility of securing a permanent role.

As a Young Offenders Support Worker, your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • To build strong rapport with the pupils and act as a positive role model.
  • To support with behaviour management and utilise de-escalation techniques when needed.
  • To promote the benefits and value of education to encourage the children to be engaged during their lessons.
  • To support the class teacher with the day-to-day running of their lessons.
  • To help make the school a safe place for both pupils and staff and protect the social and emotional well-being of the children.

Holding a driving license would be required for this role due to the secluded location of the school as public transport does not operate in this area.
