Job description
Working Farm Manager - Chiddingstone, Edenbridge, Kent
An exciting opportunity has arisen for aWorking Farm Managerto join our team inChiddingstone, Kent.
NOTE - You will be working directly for the farm, not through REAL Success.
Our Farm
We are an award-winning farm covering 500 acres, our dairy consists of an organic mixed herd of 200 autumn block-calving cows. The herd is milked twice a day through a 24/48 Herringbone parlour, with each cow averaging 6000 litres and the milk is then supplied to Arla. We also supply local cheese makers and are implementing an on farm vending machine.
Our business is a wider establishment which is run by the Commonwork Trust, a registered Charity. We also produce local vegetables, fruit and honey, while being passionate about regenerative farming, meaning we ensure our farm has a positive impact on our land and environment.
Your Role
- Day-to-day running of the organic dairy farm operation - managing the dairy, milking, herd and crop production, in line with organic farming standards
- Liaise with the management team to achieve agreed KPIs, financial budgets, and herd targets
- Proactive management of the farm estate for regenerative farming, nature and education outcomes in collaboration with the team.
- Overall staff management of 2 staff members and contractors, including weekly staff rotas and training.
- Taking full responsibility for dry cow management, calving cows and colostrum protocols.
- Maintain and build strong working relationships with landlords.
- Undertake proactive management of health and safety standards across the farm estate.
- Enable development and delivery of further farm enterprises.
- Working closely with the business CEO and Estates Committee to develop the strategy for the farm.
- Ensuring the farm is kept tidy and safe to operate at all times
We regularly have visitors to the farm, including students, meaning you will need to keep the utmost respect for animal welfare & on-farm safety.
Qualifications & Licenses required
- A full UK Driving license.
- Proof of UK right to work
- Foot trimming & AI qualification
You
The successful candidate will:
- Demonstrate strong previous experience in agriculture and dairy management
- Have experience in leading a team on a day-to-day basis to achieve agreed targets
- Be able to manage the farm's finances and costs accordingly
- Have previous experience or an interest in organic farming and regenerative farming
- Possess the skills to communicate and work effectively with others
- Be a self starter, who has high attention to detail and organisational skills

Location
The farm is located near the picturesque village of Chiddingstone, with walks, schools and leisure nearby. The farm is also less than an hour away from London.
