Wood Machinist

gap personnel Gloucester are recruiting for a Wood Machinist for a permanent position

Our client based in Gloucester is  currently updating our mill to the next generation of timber moulders-

We seek a new machinist with some milling exsperiance who can be trained on this new equipment.

Subject to experience the client may also look to create the position of mill manager in this role. 

Hours will be 8am to 4.30 pm monday to friday

Salary: £35,000+ per annum depending on experience

Duties:

plan jobs and follow detailed technical drawings

select the right type of wood for a particular product

work out the amount of timber needed

cut and shape timber, using tools like saws, planes and routers

clean workshop tools and service equipment

Skills:

· to be able to interpret plans, diagrams and instructions

· good eyesight

· maths skills as you have to measure very accurately and set precision equipment

· good hand skills

· good concentration and the ability to pay attention to detail

· computer skills and experience of using CAD software

· to be fit and fairly strong, as you will be on your feet for most of the day, moving heavy pieces of wood at times

· some knowledge of different woods

Experience in similar role would be an essential.
