Windows Infrastructure Engineer
The Infrastructure team at Maven plays a critical role in defining the technological backbone of the organisation, focusing on enhancing the server infrastructure to support our expansive suite of services. This team ensures the robustness, scalability, and efficiency of Maven's server environments, which include communication and collaboration systems, telephony, and more, far beyond the conventional desktop environment.
As a Server-focused Windows Engineer, your role is central to Maven’s strategic initiative to modernise and scale our technological infrastructure. You will spearhead efforts to ensure our server environments are optimised to meet current and future demands. Your expertise will guide the transition to state-of-the-art server technologies and practices, positioning Maven for growth and scalability. This is a role that promises continuous learning and the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic environment.
The Role:
Lead the deployment, configuration, and optimisation of server solutions, focusing on Windows Server environments, virtualisation, storage platforms and telephony.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Windows and Virtualisation: Utilise IaC to automate Windows server and virtualisation platform configurations, ensuring efficient, consistent, and scalable infrastructure. Key tools may include PowerShell for Windows environments and Powercli for VMware for virtualisation.
Provide advanced-level support for the Windows server environment, aiming to automate responses to common issues and streamline system administration.
Drive the adoption of best practices in server management, including disaster recovery planning, performance tuning, and security compliance.
Coordinate with different teams to ensure smooth server operations, and infrastructure upgrades, focusing on minimal impact to operational continuity.
Develop, refine, and maintain documentation for server management procedures, adopting a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and operational excellence.
Play a key role in configuring and maintaining mission-critical communication systems and server-based office technologies, ensuring high availability and performance.
Skills and Experience:
Over 5 years of in-depth experience in managing and supporting Windows Server environments within a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
Profound knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems (Windows Server, Active Directory, and core infrastructure services (DFS, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
Strong background in virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware vSphere, and experience with Storage Arrays.
Experience with cloud services and infrastructure as code (IaC) is highly desirable, reflecting a modern approach to server management.
Familiarity with telephony systems and the integration of server technologies to support communication platforms.
Proficient in using automation and scripting tools such as PowerShell and Python to facilitate efficient server administration and operations.
Exceptional troubleshooting skills, with a keen ability to diagnose and resolve complex server-related issues.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, critical for collaboration across departments and with stakeholders.
Linux experience is advantageous.
