Location: Portsmouth
Hours: 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Acorn by Synergie is currently seeking an experienced Coded Welder, required by their client, a leading global manufacturing and engineering company. This role offers full-time work on a temporary to permanent basis, working day shifts.

What are we looking for?


* Reliable, conscientious and eager to participate in their own development.
* Competent in working with at least one of TIG / MAG / Stick / Plasma / Orbital - and previously coded to ASME IX, ISO 9606 or similar.
* Competent at Welding Full penetration Stainless steel joints while being purged.
* Able to Interpret technical drawings.
* Experience of Pipe welding / Pipe fitting essential
* Experience in welding in 1G, 2G, and preferably 6G positions.
* Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques in pressure Vessel manufacturing
* Knowledge of NDE techniques - e.g. Dye Penetrant, Ultrasonic, Magnetic Particle inspection preferred.
* Relevant IT skills utilised in a manufacturing environment including Lotus Notes (V5 / CCDB) & Microsoft Office
* You'll be reliable and punctual and able to work as team in what can be a high-pressured environment


Main responsibilities
* To weld (and in selected cases, fabricate) stainless steel pressure vessels and associated components that meet all applicable standards required in the respective industry they serve.
* Accountable for meeting Delivery and Productivity targets by ensuring that internal Non-Conformances and scrap are minimised, manufacturing issues are escalated at the earliest opportunity, and Daily Management is effectively supported to minimise delays in the process.
* Conduct some aspects of fabrication to support the product assembly (dependent of product variant)
* Conduct post assembly inspection activities to ensure product is in-line with drawing specifications and weld procedures utilising inspection aids if applicable (e.g. endoscopes)
* Continually practice and promote safe working practices & methods
* Ensure welding is conducted in-line with approved codings and they are maintained in line with the required schedule.
* Ensure accurate and detailed documentation is maintained during manufacture of products.
* Actively support continuous improvement initiatives (eg. Kaizen, TPM, Root Cause Analysis, 7 Ways, 5 Whys, etc)
* Liaise with appropriate internal & external customers / suppliers.
* Ensure all legislative protocols are adhered to.
