Role Purpose



Reporting to the Fabrication Supervisor the post holder will be working as part of a team in the busy fabrication workshop. You will be reading engineering drawings to fabricate bespoke gates to meet customer requirements.   



Job duties




  • Welding - This will involve extensive MIG welding on bespoke gates and ancillary accessories

  • General Fabrication - Utilising the range of tools available as required for each project including: band-saw, pillar drill, guillotine, grinders and other hand tools

  • Interpreting Technical Drawings - Using technical drawings produced in AutoCAD, understanding the required fabrication processes required to fabricate the finished products

  • Communication - This role will involve liaising with the Engineering team to understand customer requirements for the bespoke projects.

  • General Fabrication Support - To support other teams to meet peak demand periods

  • Health & Safety - Ensuring that all requirements are met including: equipment checks; wearing the correct Personal Protective Equipment, proactively reporting any concerns or risks; participating in training and risk assessments as required

  • Record time taken to produce work

  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping to ensure the on-going cleanliness of the facilities

  • Maintain and promote safe working practices and policies whilst engaged in your daily duties



Skills, Knowledge and Behaviors




  • Proven experience working within a similar role

  • Proven experience of MIG welding

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

  • Able to safely operate the band-saw

  • Able to use a range of hand tools used for fabrication

  • Fork-lift truck certification (would be adventitious)

  • A good communicator who works well in a team environment

  • Enjoy working under your own initiative and managing a busy workload

  • An understanding of health and safety legislation

  • A good standard of literacy and numeracy

  • Reliable & professional

  • Able to use initiative to resolve problems

  • Organised, able to prioritise work

  • Flexible to work overtime/weekends
