Water Utility Site Technician

TEXO Asset Integrity are seeking experienced Water Utility Site Technicians with a minimum background in rope access, confined space entry, and mechanical expertise to join our team, based in Central Belt, Northumberland and Yorkshire on a permanent basis.
The ideal candidates will play a crucial role in performing technical tasks related to water utility operations, maintenance, and inspections. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.
Responsibilities:

Site Maintenance and Repair:

•    Conduct routine maintenance and repair tasks at water utility sites, including mechanical equipment, pumps, valves, and piping systems.

•    Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and performance issues promptly.

•    Utilise mechanical skills to ensure the proper functioning of equipment and machinery essential to water utility operations.
Rope Access and Confined Space Entry:

•    Employ rope access techniques to access elevated or difficult-to-reach areas for maintenance, inspection, and repair activities.

•    Execute confined space entry procedures safely and effectively for tasks such as tank inspections, cleaning operations, and equipment maintenance.

•    Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures while working at heights or in confined spaces, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Data Collection and Reporting:

•    Collect and record data related to water quality, flow rates, equipment performance, and other relevant parameters.

•    Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintenance logs, and documentation to track site activities and compliance with regulatory standards.

•    Communicate findings and recommendations to supervisors and other team members to facilitate informed decision-making and effective problem-solving.
Emergency Response:

•    Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as equipment failures, leaks, or contamination incidents, to mitigate risks and minimize service disruptions.

•    Assist in implementing emergency response plans and procedures, working collaboratively with team members and external agencies as needed.

•    Demonstrate adaptability and resourcefulness in high-pressure situations to ensure the safety and integrity of water utility systems.
Safety Compliance:

•    Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including those related to rope access, confined space entry, and mechanical operations.

•    Participate actively in safety training programs and exercises to maintain proficiency and awareness of best practices.

•    Identify and report any safety concerns or hazards promptly, taking appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
Requirements:

•    High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not essential); technical or vocational training in mechanical engineering, water utility operations, or related field (preferred).

•    Minimum of 3 of experience in water utility operations, maintenance, or mechanical repair.

•    Certification in rope access and confined space entry (e.g., IRATA, Confined Space Entry Training).

•    Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of mechanical systems and equipment.

•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and challenging environment.

•    Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

•    Willingness to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

•    Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
