An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, enthusiastic, highly motivated and organised Waiting List Coordinator to join the Norfolk and Waveney Urology Service.Our team are spread across three sites, Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn, and James Paget Hospital Great Yarmouth. This role will be based at the Norfolk and Norwich hospital. Urology is a busy and innovative specialty which treats problems of the urinary system and the genitourinary tract. Our Urologists diagnose and treat disorders of the kidneys, ureters, bladders, and prostate. You will be working alongside 18 Consultant Urologist’s and Specialist Nurses.The successful candidate will have a methodical approach to work, be extremely well organised and have a flexible attitude incorporating our Trust PRIDE values. Good communication skills are essential to this post. The successful candidate must be able to work independently.The candidate will be responsible for managing Inpatient and Day case waiting lists and theatre schedules of individual consultants, reducing and cancelling theatre sessions/slots as necessary with strict adherence to Trust policies and procedures, including the NHS referral to treatment 18 week pathway.Join us at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and be part of a workforce of over 10,000 staff!The NNUH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK, providing first-class acute care for around one million people, living in Norfolk and surrounding areas. Extensive periods of concentration are required for data input, analysis of waiting lists and rotas in order to organise theatre schedules. In line with booking policies and procedures, agree admission dates with patient and send out letters and information to patients with regard to their admission to hospital.Book pre-operative assessment appointments in accordance with local guidelines and liaise closely with pre-operative assessment nurses about the outcome of appointments.Undertake validation of specific patients at the request of the manager or other members of the admissions team.Deal with enquiries from patients and G.P.s about waiting times and admissions. This includes dealing with patients, or the relatives of patients, with suspected or confirmed cancer and with people from differing backgrounds.Work to ensure that all access targets are met. Keep manager and relevant consultants informed of their waiting times and ensure that dates are given to all patients, which meet waiting time targets. Bring individual patients who are likely to exceed waiting time targets to the attention of both managers and consultants.To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service,all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUH’s ‘PRIDE’ values of People focused, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence and demonstrate behaviours that support and encourage an inclusive culture.To facilitate the management of inpatient and Day Case Waiting Lists ensuring that the lists available are fully utilised. As these lists are subject to change according to clinical priority, this may involve cancellation and re-arrangement of dates and direct contact with patients to impart this news.To independently select patients for the Communal Theatre Lists, ensuring that the available lists are used to their fullest capacity.To select patients for Consultant Lists, as requested by that individual Consultant, according to agreed criteria.To book patients for Pre-assessment by Nurse Practitioners, ensuring as many patients as possible are pre-assessed.To work closely with Consultants, Secretaries, Ward Clerks, Nurse Practitioners to ensure the smooth running of waiting lists and admission processes.Ensure the smooth admission of patients to hospital by liaising with Wards and bed managers and by control of the Bed Booking system.To be proficient in the use of Orsos. This entails ensuring lists are reserved 6 weeks in advance, named patients are booked two weeks in advance and that clinical priorities, such as infection risks, diabetes etc. are acknowledged and factored into the list order. This can also include ensuring appropriate equipment is available.Deal with telephone queries relating to admissions and information relating to waiting lists. Patients are often anxious, upset, aggressive or angry if a wait is incurred.Whenever possible provide cover for the Partial Bookings Clerk due to Annual/Sick leave.To produce waiting list reports as required by Service Manager and General Manager.
