Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (Part-time) – Do you have experience and skills to support us in managing and coordinating our amazing volunteers?  Would you like to join a local sight loss charity which is committed to working with individuals, their families, friends, and carers, and policymakers to ensure that anyone affected by sight loss can enjoy life to the fullest?

If so, we are looking for a Part-time Volunteer Engagement Coordinator, based at one of the following offices: Norwich, Great Yarmouth, or King’s Lynn supporting volunteers countywide.

About the role:

As we grow we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part-time Volunteer Engagement Coordinator to help lead and manage our volunteer department. You will be dynamic and creative in coordinating and supporting our vibrant volunteer program across the county.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Recruit and onboard volunteers, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Provide support and supervision for volunteers in their tasks.
  • Collaborate with staff to fill volunteer needs and support projects.
  • Manage volunteers' schedules, expand roles, and plan appreciation events.
  • Assess and enhance the volunteer program, promote opportunities at community events, and serve as the primary contact for volunteer inquiries. Additionally, perform any other necessary duties.

The normal working week for this role is 22.5 hours and covers 52 weeks per year.

About you:

You will have a well-rounded experienced gain in either volunteer coordination, recruitment, and retention. Ideally a proven track record of overseeing projects and managing teams. Minimum experience of 3 years in similar role is essential. You should possess strong interpersonal, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, and be passionate about community engagement and working with volunteers. You will need to have experience in prioritising and handling a diverse caseload. Knowledge of safeguarding principles for vulnerable adults is essential, as is experience in working in partnership with external agencies. Personal attributes required include excellent communication skills, strong organisational skills, reliability, responsibility, leadership qualities, self-motivation, and an empathetic and compassionate approach toward working with individuals. You will be confident and able to advocate on behalf of individuals. You will hold a full UK driving licence.
