Role Overview:

As an Education Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in raising the attainment and fostering the educational progress of Looked After Children and Care Leavers. Working closely with our dedicated team and Headteacher, you'll focus on various aspects including admissions, attendance, attainment, and enrichment activities to promote inclusion and drive academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of Looked After Children, ensuring their educational needs are met from Nursery to age 18.
  • Lead the development and implementation of high-quality Personal Education Plans (PEPs), monitoring progress and ensuring timely completion.
  • Collaborate with social workers, schools, and carers to deliver effective support and advocacy for Looked After Children.
  • Provide guidance and support to Care Leavers still in education, fostering a culture of aspiration and opportunity.
  • Contribute to policy development, training delivery, and enrichment programs aimed at enhancing the educational experience of Looked After Children and Care Leavers.
  • Build strong partnerships with external agencies to ensure seamless service delivery and holistic support for vulnerable youth.

Requirements:

  • Degree level qualification, preferably with Qualified Teacher status.
  • Experience working within the UK education system or similar setting, with a focus on vulnerable children.
  • Knowledge of legislation and best practices related to Looked After Children and Care Leavers.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
