Lee Enterprises is hiring an ambitious, competitive and innovative editor to lead sports coverage across our Virginia newsrooms.We’re looking for a collaborative and highly organized leader who loves to break news, grow audience and deliver high-impact and essential journalism to our communities across all platforms.The portfolio includes the Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Roanoke Times, Danville Register & Bee, Bristol Herald Courier, Martinsville Bulletin, The Daily Progress in Charlottesville, The Free Lance-Star in Fredericksburg and The News & Advance in Lynchburg.Our sports staff covers a wide variety of teams, from young student athletics to the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech to minor league teams. The Lee sports Virginia editor will work with local reporters and editors to set coverage priorities, with an emphasis on enterprise and trend stories that have statewide appeal.This editor will be an expert at leveraging analytics, video and multimedia to produce memorable journalism and build reader loyalty. We’re looking for a thoughtful coach who has a passion for editing and working with reporters on story ideas.This position reports to the Lee Enterprises Virginia state editor.
