Vice Chancellor (Designate)

Professor Dr. Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman completed his Ph.D in Machine Learning in 1996 from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He obtained his Masters from BUET in 1992 and Bachelors in 1989. With a tenure of about 15 years at BUET, he served as a faculty in the CSE Department and also as the head of the department from 1999 to 2001.
After retiring early from BUET, he founded United International University (UIU) in 2003 with the support of United Group, where he worked as Pro VC for 15 years and later became the Vice Chancellor from 2018 to 2022. On May 15, 2023, he joined BRAC University as a professor in the CSE Department under the school of Data and Sciences. He is set to become the Vice Chancellor Designate at State University of Bangladesh starting from October 1, 2023.
Throughout his academic career, he has contributed significantly with 127 research articles published in national and international journals, conferences, workshops, and as book chapters. He has also been actively involved in various EU-sponsored projects including the eLINK project, Clink project, and FUSION project.
