The newly formed Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences serves a wide range of research groups and teaching across several sites on the University central campus, Leahurst campus and off-site. The Institute includes the following departments:
Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology
Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour
Infection Biology and Microbiomes
Livestock and One Health
Veterinary Anatomy Physiology and Pathology
Small Animal Clinical Science
Equine Clinical Science
We are recruiting a Grade 5 Vector Specialist Technician who will support oversight and maintenance of the entomology and insect rearing laboratory, and the snail/parasite laboratory at the Leahurst campus. The facilities sit within the Departments of Infection Biology and Microbiomes and Livestock and One Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of an effective and efficient technical service to support the maintenance and production of arthropod vectors, intermediate hosts and the parasites and viruses they transmit. It is important that you must have a flexible attitude to work to meet with the changes within the Institute. Occasionally, you will be asked to support other departments and buildings within the institute, as required. You must have the knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the biological subject areas (i.e. Biological sciences, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, Parasitology or Molecular Biology).
