Are you a skilled upholsterer looking for a new opportunity? We are seeking a talented individual to join our clients team. As an upholsterer, you'll have the chance to work on a variety of furniture projects and showcase your craftsmanship.

Responsibilities:


  • Review demands through existing systems and ensure all activities are completed on time in full to support subsequent operations.

  • Complete all aspects of upholstery for existing and future product ranges.


  • Review bills of materials for all products and highlight issues to your supervisor or Engineering.


  • Measure and cut materials using manual or automated cutting instruments.


  • Operate sewing machines (Single and twin) to sew upholstery and join various sections of covering fabric.


  • Apply expert knowledge of upholstery to build (or repair) upholstered furniture using a variety of hand or power tools.


  • Work with tools and materials such as glue, staples, tacks and nail guns.


  • Assemble and quality check a wide array of products.


  • Support new product development teams to define new ranges when applicable.


  • Confer with internal customers prior to upholstery to ensure finished product meets the end clients’ expectations.


  • Train new starters, including inexperienced colleagues when required.


  • Maintain a first-time quality rate exceeding 99%.


  • Familiarise yourself with the current MRP systems and use these systems to book off completed works orders / operations daily.


  • Ensure projects are completed and delivered before set deadline.


  • Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and upholstery machine.


  • Remain flexible within working hours to meet the needs of the business.


  • Remain flexible to work in other areas of the business outside of the chair department, on an ad hoc or permanent basis.


  • Any other duties required of the role.


Requirements:


  • Proven experience as an upholsterer
  • Proficiency in upholstery techniques, including fabric cutting and sewing
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
  • Upholstery certification or relevant vocational training is a plus.
