About the role
In this client facing role you will be responsible for the delivery and marketing of Swiss Re's impressive underwriting proposition and be a key component of the Swiss Re UK & Ireland brand. Swiss Re has an established, experienced underwriting team based in London, which is a core pillar of the wider UKI Claims and Underwriting unit.
This opportunity offers great career development opportunities for experienced senior underwriting consultants/development underwriters from both direct insurance or (re)insurance environments who are really looking for a role where they can directly influence the success of Swiss Re and its partners in the UKI.
The role will work together with the dedicated UKI cross functional teams (Business development managers, Claims, Costing) on product development, on innovative solutions and in helping to establish Swiss Re as the premier underwriting partner of choice to support our clients with their growth ambitions.
As well as knowledge of Swiss Re's core value proposition in respect of underwriting, you should have experience of marketing (re)insurance services and be comfortable liaising with clients at the highest level, including senior decision makers beyond the underwriting team as well as the following:
• Drive innovation and thought leadership within the market which support our strategic aims and deliverables• Cultivate and grow client relationships and help strengthen the Swiss Re Underwriting brand• Represent Swiss Re at industry forums and functions where required• Collaborate across the wider functional units such as claims, pricing and client markets, to bring risk insights which help drive us towards our business targets• Co-ordinate the delivery of underwriting solutions and services to our clients• Ensure sound technical underwriting and risk management • Drive operational efficiency of the underwriting team at all times
About You
You are willing to take accountability for leading and driving tasks & projects, combined with your ability to collaborate and support colleagues and the wider team. You are comfortable with technology and innovation and able to visibly contribute to and promote the Swiss Re Brand as technical expert and knowledge partner.
• At least 10 years' experience in (re)insurance with a strong technical understanding of L&H products and the drivers of profitability• You have experience in L&H product development and/or project management, or have worked in a client-facing role in another capacity• You have significant awareness of market portfolio dynamics, including the ability to anticipate and mitigate potential risks and opportunities• Passion for the value that underwriting can deliver and a desire to improve continuously and challenge the status quo• Ability to translate technical knowledge into clearly articulated commercial proposals including benefits/impacts• Besides strong technical underwriting knowledge, you should be comfortable talking to senior level clients and ideally have experience of marketing (re)insurance services.
