Employing around 650 people globally, we provide an unmatched depth and breadth of expertise to our members.Department: Owner’s Fixed PremiumReports to: Head of Sector and Commercial Leader, SpecialtyLocation: London/NewcastleRole PurposeTo act as the authorised agent of NorthStandard Limited. You will be responsible for aspects of underwriting under the guidance of the relevant Director. All assistance is to be provided in line with the Department procedures and guideline. Depending on the level of experience, there is scope for the right candidate to take on the role at a Director level.Your main duties will include:Promotion of the NorthStandard where and whenever possible develop lasting long-term relationships with existing and potential Members, Brokers and Shipping industry contacts.Ensuring familiarity with Brokers and potential Members in relevant areas and assisting Group Directors in formulation and delivery of New Business PlansReceiving enquiries, information and carrying out additional research using available information from internal and external sources.Evaluation of enquiries, producing quotations or declining to quote. Ensuring quotation forms are raised where appropriate.Ongoing review during the policy year for preparation and negotiation of renewal rates and terms.Checking IGA position where necessary and ensuring IGA compliance, if appropriate.Management of new entries, entry amendments and calculations.Ensuring that renewal terms are authorised and advised to Members and Brokers, and the necessary internal process in completed.Arranging for Cancellation Procedures to be carried out, if applicable.Authorisation of Certificates of Entry, Certificates of Financial Responsibility and other relevant documentation.Your key accountabilities will include such other duties and tasks are as allocated to you at the discretion of management and that are within your capabilities and within the scope of your post.Ideally, you’ll have:Essential Skills/Qualifications/ExperienceA minimum of seven years P&I underwriting or broking experience.Excellent working knowledge of MS Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) and Worksite.IT Literate with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.A level standard of education or equivalent.Efficient & effective administration skills, demonstrating an attention to detail concerning work produced.Keeping up to date with best practice to ensure continuous improvement in working practices.Preferred Skills/Qualifications/ExperienceKnowledge of the small craft P&I market.Experience of fixed premium underwriting in addition or instead of mutual P&I underwriting.Existing market relationships or broker network.The opportunity to enhance your experience and to help the P&I department achieve our ambitious goals.A competitive salary and benefits package.The opportunity to learn new skills and develop your career.An open and collaborative office environment.A best-in-class approach to hybrid and flexible working.Our culture is hugely important to us.
