We remain focused on equal treatment in recruitment, retention and promotion.The teamThe private client group provides legal, tax and wealth structuring advice on a wide variety of issues to wealthy individuals, trustees and to other institutions and firms for themselves or their private clients. The work is international and covers wide ranging technical areas of tax and law.The trust and tax compliance team sits within the group and comprises three tax managers and two administrators, with partner support from across the wider private client group.The team administers approximately 100 domestic trusts for wealthy families and entrepreneurs. The work covers the full spectrum of discretionary and interest in possession trusts and charities where the team manages the accounting and tax compliance cycle.The roleKey duties will include:assisting with the trust accounting function for family trusts administered in our private client group;posting of transactional information (usually in relation to investment portfolios or rental properties) up to trial balance level;subsequent generation of draft trust accounts; andsupporting the wider team particularly in the area of client due diligence and the maintenance of client due diligence information for trustees and beneficiaries.Subject to the experience of the candidate there may be the opportunity to become involved in wider client financial administration and reporting including:cash flow forecasts; orthe calculation of taxable income and capital gains.This job description encompasses the main duties of the role and is by no means exhaustive. It is anticipated that duties may vary from time to time according to the needs of the department.The candidateThe successful candidate will have:a background in trust bookkeeping/accounting and commensurate experience on a related IT system such as troika or CCH; ormainstream bookkeeping/accounting experience gained in a different environment and willing to train/specialise in trust accounting. Proficiency with a mainstream accounting package such as Xero is desirable, with the willingness to become proficient on the Troika system. Training and support will be provided by existing team members.In either case we are looking for an individual with a good understanding of double entry bookkeeping and a willingness to take full ownership of their allocated workload on which full training will be provided.The ideal candidate will also meet the following criteria:strong attention to detail;demonstrate qualities that will fit within a cohesive, supportive and friendly team;it is essential that the individual has a hands-on approach and a strong work ethic; andproficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.Application screeningAny offer of employment with us is subject to our pre-employment checks which are conducted by a third-party screening provider.
