Trauma & Orthopaedic Consultant - Knee Primary, Revision ArthroplastyConsultantCARING FOR PEOPLE - KEEPING PEOPLE WELLJob overviewApplications are invited for a Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Knee Primary and Revision Arthroplasty Surgery to work across the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.University Hospital of Wales is the first Major Trauma Centre to launch within Wales. The Major Trauma Centre is part of an inclusive and collaborative South West and Mid Wales network spanning six Health Board areas.You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £91,722 per annum to £119,079 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.Applicants must ensure they provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last 3 years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.Main duties of the jobThe appointee will be part of a team of 12 Orthopaedic Surgeons dealing with general trauma patients working in tandem with six dedicated Major Trauma Orthopaedic Consultants. Applicants should preferably have experience of dealing with all aspects of orthopaedic trauma.Day case and in-patient surgery cases are delivered at University Hospital Llandough. There is commitment to participate in a 1 in 12 weekend trauma rota covering University Hospital of Wales and a 1 in 4 week-day rota within a 4-person trauma team.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
