As a Transport Supervisor you willcontribute to the success of the Great Bear Transport Department by the efficient planning of transport resources.As the successful candidate, you will contribute to the overall success of the site, and will report directly to the site Transport Manager.Job responsibilities of a Transport Supervisor include:Project management of a range of single and multi-disciplinary transport projects involving responsibility for resourcing, financial management and controls including the timely and reliable delivery of objectives.Communicating with Transport Manager and Transport Planning Teams to maximise backloads, identifying cost saving opportunities, trailer utilisation and cost efficiency.Ensuring effective planning and utilisation of drivers and sub-contract haulage for deliveries out of multiple warehousing sites.Review the strategic transport plans daily in relation to providing cost effective solutions and reacting to unexpected issues.Supporting the Transport Planning Team with their daily work load for a fleet of vehicles based at Fradley and Brackmills.Acting as a point of escalation to deal with queries by telephone, fax and e-mail from our customer, sub contract hauliers and warehousing sites.Responsible for building and maintaining a good working relationship with team members, vendors, hauliers and partners.Liaising with the GBD traffic and administration teams to ensure the highest standards of performance are maintained at all times.Reporting problems and dealing with any issues/queries that may arise.Daily communication with operational teams, vendors and customers regarding network/route plan changes.Continual improvement for cost reductions, identifying where cost can be saved from tactical route changes.QualificationsAs a Transport Supervisor you will possess the following skill, experiences and qualifications:Have previous transport and office experience and be able to demonstrate a high level of transport knowledge and expertise in a busy and demanding environmentExperience of transport policy and strategy development along with experience in masterplanning and a good knowledge of transportation and planning systemsKnowledge of RoadRunner Pro, Tachomaster and Falcon would be advantageousBe able to work as part of a friendly team and under own initiativeHave excellent problem solving and organisational skillsBe able to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescaleHave a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.Be able to communicate well at all levels of the business and be professional and strong in both oral and report writing, bid drafting and communication with clients and colleagues alike.Additional InformationAs part of our drive to make Great Beara great place to work, we are proud to be an inclusive and diverse organisation where we are committed to employee development and recognising success for hard working performers.Our dedicated learning and development programmes are open to every employee to give you the opportunity to shape your own future within logistics and continue to work in an environment where team culture thrives.Our people are the driving force behind our success, which is why we offer a wide range of benefits which include:Pension scheme –We want colleagues to enjoy a comfortable retirementso we offer agreat contribution of 4% employee and 4% employer.Life Assurance- x2 your annual salary.Wellness –Via our Employee Assistance Programmewe offer immediate access to a confidential telephone counselling and legal information service that operates 24 hours a days, 365 days a year.Eye Care Vouchers –We can provide you with substantial savings with free eye tests and discounts on prescription glasses.Reward & Recognition –We recognise that employees have gone the extra mile via Employee of the Month and Year, special recognition and long service awards.Everyday discounts- via our benefit platform you will have access to over 50 retailer discounts for everyday savings!If you meet the requirements for the above role and are looking for your next career opportunity, please apply now and become a part of our #WinningTeam!
