We are actively looking to engage a Transport Shift Manager for an exciting new role in the Burton-on-Trent area of Derbyshire in the third party world of logistics!

Client Details

Our client are a world leading general haulage and distribution business with 17 sites in the UK who supply both trade, third-party logistics, retail & industrial services. The company has recently grown to employ 390 HGV & LGV vehicles who serve a 24/7 transport network. With over 8,000 loads on a typical day to day basis - this is an extremely fast-paced transport operation and would suit those looking to grow and advance a career in the sector. Future growth is also planned for the site, thus resulting in high levels of opportunities moving into 2024 and onwards!

Description

As a Transport Shift Manager you will report into the Transport Manager and General Operations Manager on a daily basis. You will be based at the Burton-on-Trent area of Derbyshire and have the following areas of responsibility. This role will primarily be responsible for the distribution of around 150 loads per, across a fleet of 60 vehicles servicing a UK wide network. The operation runs a store replenishment shceduleon a day 1 / day 2 basis, so that the team meet the required plan, logistics service and cost performance targets.

  • Management of the transport of 60+ HGV & LGV Vehicles - a mixture of HGV & LGV vehicles - on a daily basis
  • Managing a small team of office staff & planners across the site.
  • Implementing staff rotas, holiday schedules and deployment plans for all employees.
  • Ensure complete adherence to health and safety of the site.
  • Using a mix of automated and manual tools to ensure daily execution / performance tracking of loads and vehicles.
  • Ensure that all relevant statutory laws, EU Drivers Hours Rules & Regulations, Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations, Operators Licence and OCRS obligations, FORS requirements, and all Company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Manage all periodic and adhoc fleet repairs and maintenance, including defect rectification, breakdowns, VOR's and spare parts replenishment.
  • Uphold the company Health & Safety system, ensuring that all documentation is current and clear, and that processes are adhered to.

Profile

The successful Transport Shift Manager will be commutable to the Burton-on-Trent area of Derbyshire. and have the following background:

  • A transport supervisory or managerial profiessional
  • Ideally 3+ years transport supervison or management experience
  • A CPC would be advantageous.
  • Experience in managing drivers in a 3PL environment would be desirable but not essential.
  • Commutable to Burton-on-Trent.
