Job Description Overview
The role of Transport Operations Director is responsible for overseeing of all operational aspects within the company’s fleet based operations. Working alongside Head of Warehouse Operations and the Stakeholders of the business and senior management teams to drive the business growth. Responsibility for transport P&Ls, working within company set budgets to produce strategic and smooth running of the transport division. Proactive and passionate leader that is confident in Influencing Senior Stakeholders on key decisions. Confident & creative approach in implementing strategies on increasing revenues in the transport division.
Control & Management of 70+ Transport Operations Colleagues through clear communication and timely appraisals. Supporting the sales development team by working on maintaining new and existing customers. Continuously improve a safe and healthy working environment for all colleagues through management & observation of site compliance, health & safety rules & practices. Oversee & manage the Senior Transport Team to maximise efficiency and implementation of new business. Ensure objective driven approach to achieve of all Operational KPI’s. Oversee & ensure all compliance is monitored of Transport division.
O License holder
Be at the head to challenge, feed back and drive improvement and efficiencies across the transport division. Encouragement of colleagues, at all levels, through proactive continuous improvement Plans. Ensuring excellence in standards of service to all Customers.
Experience
Proven track record in a similar role that ensures efficient operational strategies to support the continuation of profitable business.
7+ Years Senior Leadership Experience in Senior Transport Division Leadership
5 years+ experience in managing sales development relationships & excellent service delivery to new & existing customers.
Understanding the Logistics business at a high level to allow peaks & troughs and proactively steadying the ship and planning accordingly.
Must have current International CPC certification – expected to be named on O’Licence.
Pallet Network experience
Excellent working knowledge and up to date with Transport Division UK legislation.
Excellent communicator who can engage and motivate transport operational teams
High level commercial and financial acumen with ability to develop relationships with staff and customers.
