This is a great opportunity for a dynamic, commercially minded Transport Manager to join our team on a permanent basis in our office based in Woolpit, Suffolk.

About the role:

You will be responsible for overseeing and optimising our Transport operation, comprising of 60 vehicles, 70+ drivers and 8 staff. Maximising revenue to lead our Woolpit fleet in delivering exceptional results. You will be responsible for managing costs, developing the operations team, and ensuring the LGV workforce is fully trained and equipped to meet customer needs.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily scheduling and dispatching of a fleet of HGVs.
  • Support a team of HGV drivers in line with company values and culture.
  • Develop and grow the customer base to increase weekly vehicle revenue.
  • Monitor and track profitability of operations against financial targets.
  • Promote company services and represent the brand as an ambassador.
  • Ensure vehicle revenue and customer service levels are maintained at high standards.
  • Maintain safety, health, and compliance standards, including Driver hours, Working Time Directive (WTD) regulations.

About you:

Previous experience as a traffic operator with good knowledge of the general haulage market. You will need a minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership role. Proven track record in commercial operations, preferably in a supply chain or logistics environment.  Knowledge of pallet networks and/or general distribution. Hold a transport management CPC.

You need to be a flexible and agile individual with a strong personality who can motivate and develop a team. You'll be a role model, leading by example and always willing to go the extra mile. Along with excellent organisational skills, you'll be able to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively. Proficiency in MS Office and TMS is also essential.
