YOUR ROLE
As the Transport Manager for the FVL unit (Finished Vehicle Logistics) you will manage and control the transport activities for a fleet of 10 car transporters. You will be responsible for recruiting the drivers and managing the legal compliance aspects of running the vehicles and drivers.
Due to the nature of work, travel is required (once per week) to take care of the activities in Sheerness, Kent and Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire (FVL sites).
This is a Monday to Friday role for 37,5 hours
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
You will provide appropriate management controls through effective planning, organization and communication to ensure that all Transport key performance targets are achieved in relation to Financial, Quality and Service.
Full control is required over the costs, service contractors and providers, compliance, fines and permits, driver management and training.
You will manage and control the legal compliance aspects of running the vehicles and drivers. You will open O licenses, establish maintenance systems and take care of the driver recruitment.
You will provide work instructions and training programs for the drivers. You have daily contact with the planners to ensure transparency of truck and driver availability.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will have proven experience of leading transport teams with considerable experience, ideally within 3PL environment. You have a considerable understanding of relevant Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Procedures and experience with the legal compliance aspects of the activities.
It is essential you have CPC Transport Manager certification and essential to have experience with VOLS (Vehicle Operating License System).
HGV Class 1 licence is desirable but not necessary.
You will be able to demonstrable experience of building and developing exceptional client relationships, possess strong people management skills with the ability to coach and develop others and be a skilled decision maker. You have excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
