This is not just a job, this is an opportunity to be an integral part of a business and its growing success.At the forefront of the operation driving efficiency, compliance and growth you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transport and logistics division ensuring seamless round robin collections and managing a small but efficient team of dedicated professions and varied fleet.You will be nominated on the standard national operator licence which authorises 15 vehicles and 12 trailers across 2 sites and will have overall responsibility for that licence compliance.You will be expected to comply with the statutory duties of a nominated transport manager as set out in the job description.Here are some of the key responsibilities you will undertake in this important role:Day-to-day Management: Lead a dedicated team of Office staff and on-the-road Drivers.Fleet Accountability: Oversee a diverse fleet of Dustcarts, Artics, Hook Loaders, and Vans.Safety First: Ensure that Health and Safety standards are at the forefront of all our operations.Compliance Champion: Drive best practices for compliance and legislation, aligning with our National O-Licence.Efficient Scheduling: Create daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for our fleet, optimising operational efficiency.Project Management: Organize and prioritise both short-term and long-term projects for departmental maintenance and improvements.Budget Management: Take responsibility for an annual budget and provide executive-level reporting.The Role in Action:Working within a dedicated team, your daily duties will encompass a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:Handling calls and liaising with customers and Drivers.Conducting daily debrief sessions for Drivers, confirming work, and addressing anomalies or issues.Resolving issues, including any hazards identified by Drivers.Processing and confirming collection requests and running and clearing daily reports.Undertaking administrative tasks and maintaining departmental housekeeping.Requirements:To thrive in this role, you'll need:An up-to-date Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage operations.Expertise and experience in logistics and the ability to create fully optimised routing.Critical team management experience.Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with management, team members, and internal/external customers.Strong organisational skills to plan, prioritise, and meet strict deadlines in a time-critical environment.A willingness to adapt and continuously develop your skill sets and knowledge, as determined by the role and business needs.Proficiency in using tachograph analysis software, vehicle telematics systems and driver defect reporting appsProficiency in using business software and the Microsoft Suite.
