Transport Controller

Our client based in DEESIDE , specialise in the Distribution of Steel acroos the UK
Due to expansion they are now looking for a neqw Transport Controller based at their DEESIDE site to join their growing business. Currently thye location runs mainly Artics and up to 20 drivers, but are growing.
The role itself reporting into a General Managerinvloves :
- Allocate work to delegates.
- Plan Driver and vehicle availability to ensure Customer needs and delivery/collection commitments are satisfied in an economical manner.
- Carry out daily Driver briefings and allocate routes according to plan.
- Monitor progress against plan for all timed bookings.
- Plan and manage trunk routes.
- Debrief Drivers on plan v's actual - taking action on any discrepancies.
- Ensuring Drivers complete and hand in control sheets.
- Management of resources including liaising with Agencies to arrange "Temp" Drivers as required.
- Ensuring Agency costs are kept within budget and Subcontractors to ensure loads are covered in a cost effective manner
- Monitor attendance, absence, holidays, capability and conduct of team members.
- Actioning reviews as required.
- Monitor Fleet Performance, servicing and engineering compliance
- Conduct Team Member appraisals in accordance with Company guidelines
- Support other depot functions as part of the supervisory team
- Ensure legislative compliance including the management of driver infringements
- H+S Compliance including the attainment of the BRTC's and LTI targets
- Measure fleet efficiency and balance fleet against volumes
To apply for the role, you must live in the DEESSIDE are or local to it as the role is office based. You miust have previous experience as a Transport Controller working with Artics and ideally have previous experience in the distribution and complexities of moving steel around the UK.
