Permanent, Full Time, 40 hours per week

At Oakhill Secure Training Centre we look after young people aged 12 to 18 years old who have been remanded or sentenced to periods of detention. The vulnerable young people in our care can be challenging with a wide range of social and emotional complex needs. This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for young people to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led them into custody.
Oakhill Secure Training Centre works closely with the Youth Custody Services to ensure that its regimes and designs reflect best practice in residential care to prevent offending.
An opportunity has arisen for a Training Officer to join the team at Oakhill Secure Training Centre.
The successful candidate will plan, co-ordinate and deliver high quality cost effective training activities in line with business, contractual, team and individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Contribute towards the promotion of a climate committed to employee development and the achievement and maintenance of appropriate accreditations and standards.
Identify training needs and take appropriate action ensuring that this is communicated to the relevant people.
Develop and implement cost effective annual training plans, in liaison with relevant stakeholders, ensuring that contractual and operational needs are met.
Review, design and develop, as required, existing and future training and development programmes ensuring they remain of high quality and are in line with contractual standards.
Plan and organise, as required, training materials, venues, equipment, speakers and delegate attendance ensuring the smooth and professional delivery of training programmes.
Co-ordinate and deliver effective training and development solutions ensuring company and operational standards and business needs are met.
Coach, support, advise and, as necessary, formally assess staff to maximise their performance and ensure values, ethical standards, equality and diversity, policies and procedures and contractual requirements are met.
Evaluate the effectiveness of training and development programmes to ensure a high level of delegate satisfaction and continuous improvements are identified and implemented.
Maintain secure, accurate and timely training records so that training can be planned effectively, activities reported upon and audit standards met.
Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes the reporting of accidents and near misses in a timely manner and the application of safe systems of work for the role.
Work with others in the training department to ensure a consistent approach to training provision, resolve issues and share best practice and innovation.
Promote a training environment that is committed to the company’s vision and values so that behaviours and conduct of staff and delegates at all levels is appropriate and professional.
Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment. (As required by secure establishments).

The Ideal Candidate:
Holds a Level 3 training qualification or is willing to work towards
Holds A1 Assessors qualification or is willing to work towards
Experience of project/ work planning, monitoring and reviewing
Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook Email & Calendar
