Job Title: Trainee Installation Technician                            

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 (DOE)

Location: Worcestershire                           

Type: Permanent

Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday)

The role:

Our client based in Worcestershire are the leading supplier for all blown stone wool fire barrier and insulation installations for both domestic and commercial clients. They operate on a national level and are seeking to hire a Trainee Installation Technician who has experience  in the construction industry and is keen to lend these skills to their specialist service. As the Trainee Installation Technician, you will be responsible for meeting clients on a face-to-face basis and always offering a professional and knowledgeable service. The ideal candidate will have minimum 2 years’ experience within the construction industry and possess a sound knowledge of and experience with power tools and working as part of a team on busy construction sites. Other experience within the construction industry may be considered for the right candidate.

Full training will be provided with the role, but the opportunity to grow and forge a long-standing career is very much on offer with a clear career progression laid in front of you from day one. Although the role is based in Worcestershire, daily travel will form a large part of this role. This will occasionally involve an overnight stay and driving for up to 3 hours to reach your destination. Please be mindful when applying for this role that this is a non-negotiable part of the role. A company vehicle will be provided and all costs will be covered for the times when you stay away from site.

Main duties and responsibilities:


  • Undertake all duties in accordance with the Company’s training programme
  • Undertake all aspects of the blown insulation installation cycle
  • Check the jobs calendar on a daily basis to plan for upcoming installations
  • Conduct surveys at both domestic and commercial sites, as required
  • Prior to use, check all equipment e.g., ladders, harnesses etc. is fit for use
  • Check and load materials into vehicles in preparation for installations
  • Safely drive company vehicles to various locations within the UK, strictly adhering to speed limits and the Highway Code
  • Liaise with customers throughout the installation cycle, explaining what the installation will involve and ensuring expectations are met and exceeded
  • Set up machinery and materials on site safely and correctly
  • Removal of any existing insulation material, where necessary
  • Drill to specified drill patterns, where required
  • Safe and effective installation of blown materials into building voids on both domestic and commercial sites using machinery provided
  • Carry out quality checks throughout installation and on completion of each job
  • Completion of job report forms and submissions of form to the office
  • Ensure all sites remain clean, tidy, and free from obstructions at all times
  • Strictly adhere to all Health and Safety procedures, as per the Company’s Health & Safety policy and procedures
  • Safely carry out moderate-heavy lifting, as required
  • Take reasonable precautions and maintain a high standard of health and safety awareness at all times
  • Notify the Operations Director of any health and safety concerns or accidents immediately
  • Ensure a consistently high-quality standard of work and customer service
  • Prior to use, ensure Company vehicles are fit for use by conducting daily vehicle checks
  • Submit regular vehicle check forms to the Operations Director
  • Make the Operations Director aware of any vehicle defects or issues as soon as they arise
  • Ensure that stock is checked and counted on a regular basis and send stock information to the Business Support Services team for recording
  • Receive, reconcile, and store new stock deliveries

Skills and experience sought:


  • Minimum of 2 years working within construction
  • Valid clean Driving License
  • Experience of managing and handling heavy construction machinery
  • Heath and Safety aware at all times
  • Excellent communicator and team player
