Traffic Signals Engineer (�30-�35K)

Our client is looking for a Traffic Signals Engineer to carry out the installation, commissioning and maintenance of fixed traffic signals and all associated equipment for the business, for either Highways England or Local Authority's whilst providing our clients with the highest levels of quality and delivering their projects within the required timescales. An outline of the key duties and responsibilities is set out below.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that all works carried out on any site within Portsmouth are undertaken with full regard for the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and members of the public.

  • Ensure that all works carried out on any site within Portsmouth are undertaken with due regard for the environment, to prevent pollution, comply with legal and corporate requirements and minimise environmental impact.

  • Responsible for reviewing and gaining a comprehensive knowledge of all equipment and systems within the business, whilst evidencing your ability to retain this knowledge by delivering all the Installation and commissioning activities to the required standards.

  • Responsible for carrying out all associated installation and commissioning works to specified designs and standards.

  • Responsible for attending traffic signal related faults in a timely manner ensuring contract response times are met. Interrogate all types of traffic signal controllers carrying out fault analysis and repair.

  • Responsible for producing all associated test and, handover documentation within the required timescales and to the highest quality.

Qualifications and experience

  • Experience of Local Authority and, or Highways England
  • Experienced with regular external customer contact in support of delivery requirements.
  • Ideally have experience working within the Highways sector.
  • Identifying faults, repairing, and maintaining electronic equipment.
  • HNC in Electrical/electronic professional qualifications. Desirable
  • Site Supervisory safety training scheme (SSSTS). Desirable
  • NHSS 8 Qualified Supervisor (QS). Desirable
  • Proven experience within the traffic signals industry.
  • Hold a valid ECS/CSCS/HEA card.
  • G39 qualified.
  • Electrically Qualified to:
  • BS 7671 wiring regulations (17th Edition) Desirable
  • City & Guilds 2330 or 2365 level 3 or Equivalent.
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing Desirable
