Trade Control & Risk Manager

At INEOS Energy we produce and trade oil, gas, and low carbon commodities. INEOS Energy Trading (IET) is responsible for marketing the oil, condensate and gas from the US equity fields and the gas production from our upstream assets in the North Sea and also provides access to market for its internal businesses in countries across Europe with a significant overall energy demand. We also have a team of traders who optimise the equity flows by establishing trading strategies in gas, oil, refined products and emission allowances.
Based in London, reporting to the Director of Risk for INEOS Energy Trading Ltd, as the Trade Control Manager you will be responsible for the control and reporting functions for the INEOS Energy Trading businesses globally (Europe and US currently) producing management information over trading performance and involved in delivery of a full suite of trading risk controls measures (market, credit, and cash risk) against agreed benchmarks.
You will be responsible for adherence to well defined trade controls within a strict framework of delegated authorities and for ensuring data integrity and systems (Allegro/Horizon/FEA) for all existing and developing exposure management and entrepreneurial trading activities based in Hans Crescent.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Ensure the trading control environment is robust, policies are adhered to and resources / skill sets are appropriate.
Lead and/or support systems for the control function with respect to exposure management and MI systems.
Lead and manage Trade Control team members for Global Trade Control activities
Manage trade control systems where we use Allegro/Horizon/FEA
Ensure paper trading activity is settled promptly and sure profits are allocated to correct profit centres within results.
Supervise daily/weekly/monthly trading exposure and daily profit & loss reporting. Supervise KPI calculation and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
Ensure reconciliation of management information to financial accounts is completed and issues are addressed.
Set up new exposure management or entrepreneurial trading books as required.
Support new business activities and ensure trade control aspects are covered in the assurance process. Provide project resource to set up new trade control processes as required.
Provide risk analysis in assessing new trading strategies, trading limits, neutral stocks and other business assessment of risk.
Provide leadership within the Mid Office team and manage resource requirements.
Act as the focal point between office functions and support other parts of the business when required with technical and commercial knowledge.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
Financial or STEM qualification.
Proven track record in trading or control/risk
Previous team leader experience is preferable.
Understanding of the commodities trading industry, markets, products, and exchanges.
Proven experience in compliance and assurance.
Understanding of accounts and accounting procedures (accrual and mark to market).
Experience of control and assurance.
Behavioural Skills
Ability to challenge sensitive issues constructively whilst maintaining strong working relationships.
Proactively identify and communicate potential issues with the appropriate teams or stakeholders. Make sure problems raised are followed up and worked on until completion.
Be versatile and enjoy working within a team environment.
