TOTEX Technician – Network Maintenance - Tees

£47,496.00 per annum

Operational Incentive Scheme

Working between 07:00 and 22:00 over 7 days

Located in Cannon Park



We have an exciting internal opportunity for a TOTEX Technician – Network Maintenance to join the team in our Cannon Park depot.  The post-holder will contribute to a cost-effective and customer-focused service by carrying out work across all network processes, which may be of an individual specialist nature, as a team leader or as co-ordinator of a number of teams and/or individuals.  



TOTEX areas include but are not exhaustive too;

• Emergency Services - in this area the job holder will participate in the provision and co-ordination of an emergency service which must be delivered in a safe, cost effective, efficient and customer focused manner.  Please be advised that primarily this role would be focussed on Emergency Services

• Network Maintenance - The job holder will participate in provision and co-ordination of the delivery of The AMP, and PSSR workload alongside remedials, faults and minor civils works

• Connections, Repair & Replacement - the job holder will participate in provision and co-ordination of the delivery of site works requirements, e.g. excavation, pipe laying, pipe jointing, flowstopping, connection, repair, installing pressure reduction stations, meters etc.



The TOTEX Technician will work towards authorising Engineers for: 

•    Confined Space, Civils, Working at Height, Lifting Operations, Hot Works, Permit to works

•    Critical Safe Dig (CSD) 

•    To be the originator (write/CP) non - routine operations 

•    Co-ordinate work for teams/individuals engaged in the operation and maintenance of the gas transportation system and associated assets

•    Receive instructions and requests, plan and organise resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently 

•    Lay, connect, disconnect, commission, decommission and maintain pipework, associated plant and equipment; this may involve complex work and/or specialist knowledge including mechanical maintenance work

•    Undertake installations and maintenance work on pressure reduction installations, holders, compressor stations, heaters, pipework, valves, filters, meters and associated equipment; this may involve complex work and/or specialist knowledge 

•    Respond to emergencies, participate in standby and undertake testing, survey, detection and diagnostic work which may be of a complex nature, reporting results, ensuring safety and taking appropriate action in order to maintain the transportation system and associated equipment

•    Carry out and ensure that excavation, backfill, reinstatement and repair work is carried out to the required standards including the removal of surplus/waste material 

•    Provide appropriate training, specialist advice, support and guidance to teams/individuals engaged in the operation and maintenance of the gas transportation system 



What we are looking for and qualifications

•    Must currently be a Maintenance Craftsman working on <7bar assets as a minimum, working towards >7 bar HP Craftsman 

•    Possess an IOSH, ILM or National Certificate, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent – or be willing to work towards in role 

•    Experience of managing others would be desirable

•    Ability to work flexible work patterns, including call out/standby, weekend, bank holiday working with a good level of physical fitness to meet demanding role 

•    Ability to independently and effectively communicate with colleagues, customers and members of the public within a people and team orientated environment within a safety focussed environment

•    Possession of a current Gas Network Safety Passport and strong mechanical competence

•    Working knowledge of the New Roads and Streetworks Act (NRSWA) 

•    Possession of a full UK driving licence
