Job Title - Toolmaker

Contract – Permanent

Working hours- Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am – 3.00pm

Salary – Competitive Salary

 

Purpose of Role:

The Tool Maker is responsible for making precision tools (such as jigs, moulds and dies), which are then used in the manufacturing production process to make uPVC products.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:


  • Be able to read engineering drawings to produce parts required using Lathes & drills, milling machines, grinding machines etc.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
  • Set up and operate conventional, CNC or NC machine tools such as lathes, WEDM machines, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to given tolerances and specifications.
  • Inspect finished dies and calibrators for correct fittings, surface finish, contour conformity, and defects.

 

Key Skills & Knowledge:


  • Ability to problem solve
  • Basic numeracy, literacy and ICT skills
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Good attention to detail and hand to eye co-ordination
  • Ability to use precise measuring instruments.
  • Know the strengths and characteristics of metals and other materials, what the different cutting tools can do when working with a variety of materials and knowledge of manufacturing processes, especially the uPVC industry would be beneficial

 

Qualifications:

Apprenticeship or above in Machining or engineering related qualification is essential.

 

Experience:

Previous experience of working in manufacturing / uPVC would be beneficial.
