A new public health opportunity for a local authority in the Midlands to support with the strategic development and delivery of the councils Tobacco Control and Smoking Cessation Programme.

Baltimore are excited to be working with this client exclusively, offering an initial 6 month contract for the successful candidate, along with hybrid working with a requirement to be on site once a month

Your duties as Programme Lead:

Provide additional capacity and resource to the public health directorate around local and regional objectives relating to Stop Smoking, Tobacco Control and Smoking Cessation.
Leading on the CLeaR assessment model and working with colleagues, you will develop a new smoking strategy for the council in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
With a hands on and engaged approach, you will lead on the council’s Tobacco Control and Smoking Cessation programmes, working with colleagues across public health and commissioning to understand current pathway effectiveness and make recommendations accordingly.
Within this programme of work you will across multiple key areas including ‘Swap to Stop’ schemes, ‘Smoke-free Generation’ tobacco control plans as well as the ‘Lung Health’ agenda in relation to health colleagues.
Finally, you will support the directorate in relation to NHS health checks in relation to the smoking agenda, mainly falling within workplace health checks.
Experience needed in this role:

The successful candidate will come from an established public health background, either operating as a past Public Health Specialist or professional, with experience of leading on programmes and commissioning.
Alternatively, this role may be ideal to a successful Public Health Programme Manager, with a thorough understanding of health protection in relation to this subject matter.
Have demonstrable experience and knowledge expertise of smoking cessation and tobacco control agenda within a local government setting.
An ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders; including junior staff members, colleagues within commissioning as well as partners within health.
Be a strong communicator with an understanding of other public sector organisations cultures, structures and policies.
