We are a small, ethical business based near Edinburgh making beautiful baby carriers and accessories from our specially woven jacquard fabrics. We are looking for a Production operator to join the team and help craft these high-quality items.
All of our fabrics are woven in the UK and made from natural and organic yarns, we are proud to keep production in Scotland. We are a zero-waste company and use solar panels for our energy. The Job
You will be cutting fabric for baby carriers and maintaining the production stock, including managing relevant Google Sheets. The job also includes managing deliveries, creating labels and cutting schedules. Working within a culture of Continuous Improvement - you will help make your department as efficient and error-free as possible. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will supervise the processes required to support the smooth production flow. This role requires an efficient, highly organised individual capable of managing several tasks to target standards and timelines.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Using industrial hand and machine tools to cut fabric for baby slings and accessories
Checking the quality of fabric whilst preparing and cutting, reporting any issues
Receiving, recording and ensuring the proper allocation and storage of all deliveries
Producing accurate cut plans, labels and fabric information, and passing them to the relevant departments
Following production schedule plans, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard
Any other preparation required for the smooth assembly of products in the Production Department
Inputting data regarding products and fabrics where required, for example, washing info and GSM
Monitoring production materials; keeping these organised and tidy. Always ensuring that there are enough materials stocks to meet production requirements
Monitoring, organising and updating fabric roll information on Google Sheets
Printing any required materials for product identification, regulations and packaging
Preparing scrap packs and fabric quarters for sale
Washing, drying and ironing products as required
Assisting in health and safety assessments and ensuring requirements are followed to ensure a safe working environment
Ensuring the Cutting room area and shed are kept clean, tidy and organised
Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement by regularly assessing processes concerning efficiency, cost and value; delivering solutions and monitoring success
Assisting in basic maintenance, decoration, furniture assembly and repairs for the company
The post holder will be required to perform duties appropriate to the post, other than those given in this job description (for example, relating to stock control, quality control or shipping), to ensure the smooth running of the Operations Department. The particular duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of the responsibilities entailed.
This job requires lifting large rolls of fabric, boxes and other heavy objects.
Training in moving & handling will be provided.

Essential

£23600 - £25500 Dependent on experience. 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexi-time available
