Test Technician

A great opportunity has arisen for a test technician to join a leading manufacturer who supply to a variety of national and international markets.

Job Description:

Carry out a range of testing including tensile, hardness, impact, creep strain, stress rupture, grain size, macrostructure and microstructure evaluation.
Ensure testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure.
Evaluate the results against the relevant specification.
Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to use.
Carry out heat treatment in accordance with specifications.
Ensure furnaces are maintained and calibrated prior to use.
Work in a safe and efficient manner. Participate in company safety initiatives.
Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates.
Communicate well with team colleagues and technical supervision.
Participate in internal, external training and audits as required.
Assist with improvements to procedures, equipment, operating methods etc. to increase laboratory efficiency.Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

5 GCSE's including Maths & English and Science (C or above)
Materials Science or Science based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC. Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.
Computer literate.
Relevant experience in mechanical and or metallographic testing of steel and nickel alloys.
Development/Improvement activities.
Application of training.
Positive attitude to safety & quality
Willingness to work as a team & share knowledge.
Acceptance of accountability and responsibility
Personal discipline to apply the requirements and accepted standards
Pride in the workplace. Additional Details:

Shift - Monday - Friday - Days only
Salary - £31542 per annum
Bonus - up to 10%
