Test Technician

A great opportunity has arisen for a test technician to join a leading manufacturer who supply to a variety of national and international markets.

Job Description:

• Carry out a range of testing including tensile, hardness, impact, creep strain, stress rupture, grain size, macrostructure and microstructure evaluation.
• Ensure testing is carried out in accordance with the relevant procedure.
• Evaluate the results against the relevant specification.
• Ensure testing equipment is maintained and calibrated prior to use.
• Carry out heat treatment in accordance with specifications.
• Ensure furnaces are maintained and calibrated prior to use.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner. Participate in company safety initiatives.
• Work to provide results in a timely manner in accordance with planned dates.
• Communicate well with team colleagues and technical supervision.
• Participate in internal, external training and audits as required.
• Assist with improvements to procedures, equipment, operating methods etc. to increase laboratory efficiency.

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

• 5 GCSE's including Maths & English and Science (C or above)
• Materials Science or Science based qualification e.g. BTEC/ONC/HNC. Candidates without these qualifications but who can demonstrate relevant industrial knowledge and experience will be considered.
• Computer literate.
• Relevant experience in mechanical and or metallographic testing of steel and nickel alloys.
• Development/Improvement activities.
• Application of training.
• Positive attitude to safety & quality
• Willingness to work as a team & share knowledge.
• Acceptance of accountability and responsibility
• Personal discipline to apply the requirements and accepted standards
• Pride in the workplace.

Additional Details:

• Shift - Monday - Friday - Days only
• Salary - �31542 per annum
• Bonus - up to 10%
