Engine Test Technician
Location : Peterborough PE1
Salary: £14.81 Paye / Umbrella £19.24 + 35% uplift shift premium (both day / night shifts)
Shifts A/B/C/D: Days / Nights / 12 hours shifts on a rotating shift pattern 7am to 7pm / Max 4 shifts in a row
Duration: 12 month contract likely to extend / go Perm
The Role:
As an Engine Test Technician, you will be involved in a variety of diesel engine research and development activities, ranging from engine installation into test cells, along with fitting work and component changes, to running test programmes to engineering requirements in certification, performance and validation areas
Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
Fitting / Assemble of parts and components
Using various hand, power tools and lifting equipment
Install prototype, pilot and production power-trains into machines.
Work on breakdowns and getting test cell to run again.
Diagnose and fix a range of faults
Run tests via software packages / Validation testing
Work from engineering drawings (electrical, mechanical and hydraulic)
Keep the work area clean, tidy and safe in line with 5S and total preventative maintenance (TPM)
Undertake training and further learning as required.
Candidate skills, experience and qualifications
Engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeship / NVQ level 3 / relevant work experience.
Knowledge of Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical
knowledge of power-trains and machines.
knowledge of instrumentation and its application.
Experience with hand/power tools, lifting and equipment.
PC skills / Microsoft Office and learn internal systems
Good diagnostic/problem solving skills.
