Due to the continued growth and success of our undergraduate and postgraduate engineering teaching and growing research profile we wish to appoint a Technical Skills Instructor Automotive and Motorsport Engineering to support prototype production, laboratory teaching and research activities.
The Role
As a Technical Skills Instructor inAutomotive and Motorsport Engineering you will be responsible for the production of components and assemblies to support research and student learning by supervising in workshops and laboratories. You will actively engage in the manufacturing and verification facility, by supporting other activities when required.
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operation of specified workshops, laboratories and equipment, ensuring familiarity with the technology, maintenance, cleanliness and general upkeep. You will undertake design andproduction activities includingthe use of appropriate CAD and CAM software, as made available to them within the school.
The Technical Skills Instructor will demonstrate technical support in workshops and specialist support in areas of expertise, providing skilled assistances, technical guidance and training to students, academic and research staff while advising on relevant techniques and observing safety precautions.
Our Successful Candidate
Our successful candidate will hold an engineering apprenticeship or demonstrate significant relevant experience in ametal machining and fabrication environment. Experience in an Automotive or Motorsport environment would be advantageous.
You will also require someunderstanding of a wide variety of Automated and Manual machinery and manufacturing techniques associated with general and high-performance engineering.Knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques including the use of oxy-acetylene, MIG/MAG and TIG technology in ferrous and non-ferrous materials is also required.
