The Position
The newly created Digital Solutions team is blazing a trail to reimagine the renewable energy space by delivering new and innovative solutions that are built on a solid foundation of data and analytics. Our clients will be able to optimise their assets, drive efficiency and gather new insights with their ability to confidently make data driven decisions.
The Technical Project team shares the wider Control and Hardware team's ambition to bring cutting edge control and hardware products to our clients by delivering technology trials and initial product deployments.
Reporting to the Head of Technical Projects, the Technical Project Manager (Control and Hardware) is a key team member. This individual will lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate third parties to deliver proof of concept trials and initial product deployments to progressively demonstrate the feasibility of our products and derisk the route to commercialisation.
Key Accountabilities
The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of technical projects which will lead them to:
• Collaborate with many diverse internal and external stakeholders from various fields and specialties e.g. technical experts, engineers, suppliers etc.
• Establish a project test plan with the inputs of internal and external technology and validation experts, including the potential requirements for a measurement campaign and equipment deployment (e.g. LiDARs)
• Maintain a strong overview of the technical elements of each project.
Manage and deliver a selection of technical projects to ensure their success:
Manage budget and earned value
Manage risk and opportunities
Manage timescales and resources
Manage communications with key stakeholders
Report progress to a clients and leadership team
Ensure safety of the team, contractors and assets through the design, deployment and operation of our products on site.
Work closely with the project team and the Controls and Hardware products team to keep the project on good tracks and ensure it is supporting the product development roadmap.
Leverage the project and Control and Hardware products teams expertise to best address the uncertainties and associated challenges arising from early phase trial and deployments.
Apply creating thinking to leverage project outcomes and opportunities from unexpected events to refine product design and deployment processes.
Champion the project and associated product within RES and beyond
Setup the project by refining the scope and establishing a project plan, project timeline, budget, quality plan, communication plan, risk register etc.
Define various work packages and assemble a multidisciplinary project team from a pool of internal experts to lead those packages. Identify potential knowledge and skill gaps and suggest a plan to address those.
Identify risks and opportunities throughout the project and put measures in place to address them. Manage issues as they arise.
Liaise with 3rd parties e.g. equipment suppliers, service providers or project partners; draft and review contracts, collaboration agreements etc with the support of our commercial, legal and procurement teams.
Leverage the diverse project team's skills and experience to achieve the best project outcomes and efficiently address challenges and issues.
Keep the key stakeholders informed of the progress of the project through a variety of communication channels.
Report to the leadership stakeholders who will help ensuring that the project is aligned with RES' wider strategy and provided with enough support to succeed.

Qualifications
Degree level qualification in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Science, Computer Science, Economics or related discipline, or equivalent level of professional experience.
Project Management qualification desirable.
