ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Technical Manager- Exteriors you will collaborate with the Functional Manager to deliver our product ambitions and to shape our Beyond100 strategy.
This role provides technical and strategic leadership, in depth technical knowledge and guidance, to achieve business objectives and technical development on time and within budget.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge and capability, to ensure appropriate technical direction is provided
Develop the technical roadmap for area of expertise agreed with the business for Bentley’s next generation of BEVs
Be the business technical lead on the area of expertise, liasing with other VW Group leads, aligning with technology development and strategy
Propose process and method improvements to develop departmental capability
Accountable for developing and influencing the strategic technical direction within specialist area
Participation and effective representation of function/Company in appropriate technical meetings
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be a Technical Manager/Subject Matter Expert in Exteriors/Senior Engineer, Ideally within the automotive industry,with significant experience in your area of expertise:
Exterior commodity & systems knowledge (bumpers; FEM; spoilers; mechanisms; ingress/egress; vision; glazing/ mirrors and washer wiper system)
GD&T expertise
Integrating advanced technology across the multiple platforms
Understanding and implementation of legislation requirements
Service supplier - sourcing and management
Subject matter expert on supplier resourcing projects
Integration of sustainable and carbon net zero principles
Ability to coach and influence colleagues in their field of expertise
Engineering Degree or equivalent relevant experience
