This role offers flexible working with a possibility to work fully remotely or in a hybrid or fully office-based setting from our Leeds Offices at 7 & 8 Wellington Place, Leeds, LS1.

About NHS Resolution:
NHS Resolution is a not-for-profit arm’s length of the NHS working for health care providers to resolve claims fairly and to share learning across the NHS and beyond. We provide a supportive environment for our staff with specialist training and the opportunity for personal development.
NHS Resolution operates several indemnity schemes, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, primarily for the handling of liability claims against English NHS Trusts and other commissioners and/or providers of NHS care.
The claims teams manage claims emanating from former PCTs and Strategic Health Authorities, which transferred to the Secretary of State. The Claims teams work in an interesting and dynamic climate, all contributing to a continually improving claims service.

The opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented Technical Leader to join the Claims Management function on a permanent basis.
This role is a key strategic role in the function. The Technical Leader is a senior member of the team, investigating, negotiating, reserving and settling claims.
The successful applicant will utilise their extensive knowledge of the Claims environment and its user needs and business goals to deliver a high-quality claims service, contributing to the delivery of the strategy and the Business Plan and meeting the function’s Key Performance Indicators.
What you’ll be doing:
As a Technical Leader, you will be accountable for the technical performance of the team whilst ensuring an exemplary standard of customer service and team technical competence.
The Technical Leader is also accountable for team and self in the achievement of technical KPIs and in the achievement of, or exceeding, designated technical audit standards. They will be accountable for the technical development of staff and in collaboration with the Operational Team Leader is responsible for career development.
The successful applicant will contribute to successfully managing claims on behalf of Trusts or GPs and NHS England. Case managers are responsible for their own portfolio of complex and non-complex cases and conduct the investigation, quantification, and negotiation of these claims to conclusion.
What you’ll bring:
Insurance, legal, clinical or medical qualification
Extensive experience of handling complex personal injury/clinical negligence claims to a successful conclusion and experience of successfully managing a complex caseload while successfully achieving set targets
Ability to explain highly complex issues to others and overcome any barriers to understanding.
Expert, specialised and in-depth knowledge over a wide range of areas related to personal injury and clinical negligence claims
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the application of current law and clinical practice to clinical and personal injury claims.
Demonstrable evidence of the ability to plan and organise a broad range of complex activities and service improvement strategies with the ability to adjust plans or strategies as service and customer needs change.
Experience of planning designing and delivering training interventions to share expert knowledge
Understanding of NHS Resolution business and strategic objectives and philosophy and PEER values
Excellent communication skills, including composing complex correspondence and legal documentation (additionally assessing written skills for this application)
