We currently have a great career opportunity for a Technical Discipline Manager in our Environmental Management, Permitting and Compliance (EMPC) team. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry, Energy and Power, with a focus on working collaboratively across the regions.
The role is a national leadership role in the EMPC discipline. The role is diverse and provides a great opportunity for the right person to lead a national team, provide technical leadership in conjunction with our other team Principals, and drive innovative and sustainable project solutions for our clients. As a senior member of our team you will play a key role in winning and delivering a diverse range of projects and providing mentorship to our less experienced staff.
With 23 Offices the APAC region and 700 + Staff, our SLR the team is constantly growing. We are flexible on location for the right person to deliver in this key role, Perth, Newcastle, Melbourne or Brisbane would be ideal.
Key Responsibilities
Job tasks and responsibilities
Reporting to the Service Line Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading activities in EMPC to ensure successful project delivery, sustainable business performance and recruiting/ motivating staff. You will have a range of responsibilities in line with projects, financials, behaviours and health and safety which include:
A strong focus on recruitment and organic growth of the thriving EMPC national team.
The ability to lead and build a strong rapport with the team leaders and senior team members across the EMPC team.
Managing group financial performance through resource management with the EMPA group administration team, team leaders and other technical discipline managers within the Environmental team.
Overseeing junior staff preparing quality reports for internal and external clients on time and within set budgets.
Developing, facilitating and enhancing relationships between our internal and external clients and SLR team members.
Contributing to winning work by identifying and converting opportunities and drawing on your existing client relationships.
Providing advice and assistance to internal and external clients, team members and Project Manager's on projects regarding best principles and practices
Skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will have
12+ year's experience, including
experience within a consultancy group , as well as:
Appropriate, Planning, Environmental or Science tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience in obtaining secondary environmental approvals, maintaining and/ or auditing environmental compliance, and on-site operational (and/ or construction) environmental management experience.
Experience managing teams of consultants across different geographies and project experience across multiple states
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant State and National legislation and policies, standards and guidelines.
Excellent communication skills and technical report writing.
Demonstrated experience working with and successfully mentoring junior staff.
Demonstrated experience managing large multidisciplinary projects.
Past contribution to the development of the regional business plan which includes assessing business risk, growth opportunities and resourcing requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated and ability to work effectively within a team.
A strong track record in building, nurturing and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
The ability to travel interstate to engage with the team face-to-face.
