What you'll be doing Reporting directly to the Technical Claims Manager, you'll settle high-value and complex third-party claims as economically as possible while maximising the speed of settlement and safeguarding the company’s
reputation. You'll
become an integral part of a centre of technical excellence for Motor and Liability claims, where you'll provide advice and guidance to Claims and other business areas within Direct Line Group.Manage your own portfolio of high-value motor personal lines, catastrophic injury/complex claims, adhering to your own personal delegated handling authorityConduct thorough investigations, with the assistance of experts when necessary, to validate all large loss claimsNegotiate fair and reasonable settlements for third-party claims using the appropriate communication channelsContribute to the development of technical claims handling skills in the department and wider claims locations by coaching, conducting file reviews, providing training, and disseminating updates on technical and legal developmentsStay informed about legal and procedural developments impacting high-value claims handling, evaluate any relevant changes or developments, provide input into the assessment of impact or determination of approach that should be taken by DLG, communicating outcomes to stakeholdersProvide technical advice and support to regional third-party claims teams and other business areas to support the achievement of business objectivesContribute to the development of the large loss claims handling strategy within DLG, identifying opportunities for improvements and strategies to maintain DLG's position as market leaders in this fieldMaintain awareness of and adhere to the rules and requirements of legal, regulatory, and risk management frameworks on an ongoing basisWhen necessary, lead or provide input into DLG's responses and discussions related to developments and changes in procedural or damages law/law reformRepresent DLG on industry bodies or review groups, providing valuable technical insights and reporting to Claims Management as needed What we're looking for Demonstrated expertise in technical/large loss claims handling within the motor claims fieldsIn-depth understanding of common law and insurance-related legislationStrong problem-solving skills, including the capacity to analyse complex issues, identify root causes, and formulate effective solutionsA proactive and results-oriented approach to work, with the drive to meet and exceed performance targets What we’ll give you in return: We recognise we wouldn't be where we are today without our colleagues, that's why we offer excellent benefits designed to suit your lifestyle:9% employer contributed pension50% off home, motor and pet insurance plus free travel insurance and Green Flag breakdown coverLife AssuranceIncome ProtectionAdditional optional Health and Dental insuranceEV car scheme allows all colleagues to lease a brand new electric or plug-in hybrid car in a tax efficient way.Generous holidaysBuy as you earn share schemeEmployee discounts and cashbackPlus many more Ways of Working
