How would you like to be at the forefront of developing products that will be actively used by hundreds of thousands of customers across the world every month?
At IAG Loyalty we enable people to enjoy incredible experiences by collecting and redeeming the iconic Avios currency, and our Product Department is leading our transformation into a digitally optimised, loyalty products and services business. We're focused on using modern tech to create industry leading customer and partner services, role modelling agile ways of working and creating efficient, effective, personalised products.
This is where you come in.
As our Technical Lead for our Loyalty Apps, you'll play a key role in building, releasing and continuously improving our mobile apps for Aer Club, Vueling Club and British Airways Executive Club. You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers and Product Designers using your technical expertise to turn “what we need to do” into “how we need to do it”, and lead of team of Engineers to bring those ideas to life.
However, this is not a pure people-management position. You'll enjoy getting involved and being hands-on using modern tools and technologies such as React Native, React and .net , AWS, Terraform, Typescipt and Redux,
Equally, you're always on the lookout for the right tools to improve developer experience and help us move faster.
It's an ideal opportunity if you're a senior/lead engineer with some management experience, looking for the next step in your career to add a strategic element to what you do. We're at a pivotal point with the Reward App having moved to React Native and completing a full redesign. Your role will shape the App to become a platform that other product teams can develop into, to deliver quicker change and value to customers.
Here are a few ways you'll be adding value in this role:
You'll share your knowledge with other Software Engineers to contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
You'll help to define and shape the architecture and frameworks used in our front-end and back end applications
You'll work as part of a delivery team as a hands-on contributor. Designing, implementing and testing of cutting-edge software components for product and client requirements
You'll team up with our Dev Ops Engineers to ensure our infrastructure needs are met and your code can be supported and monitored in production
You'll review code written by other members of the team, providing technical coaching and mentorship to teammates.
You'll be ideal for this role if:
You have the ability to innovate and develop software solutions; and the ability to understand product and clients' needs and define suitable solutions to meets their requirements
You have in-depth experience of some of the following tools and technologies:
React native, React, .net Core, node.js, Typescript (or Javascript), Redux, Terraform, Docker, GraphQL, REST, AWS
You have a genuine interest in software development, with a strong willingness to learn and to remain up to date with new development techniques rather than assuming that the tools and techniques you know are the best ones for the job.
You have experience with microservices, designing, building and maintaining APIs and domain driven design as well as integrating with external APIs
You've worked in an agile/scrum environment, continuously deploying code day-after-day and week-after-week
You're comfortable engaging with non-technical stakeholders, explaining what you're doing and why in a simple, understandable manner.
You take pride in your code, looking for simple, elegant solutions to complex problems, following the principles of software engineering.
You're used to using version control software and have experience of implementing automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous release processes
