Your primary focus will be on ensuring sustainable, profitable growth and business retention. You’ll work closely with the team to implement the Underwriting strategy, aligning it with the Ansvar Business Plan.The role holder will deliver exceptional customer service acting as part of the underwriting team, supporting Ansvar’s “right first time” approach to customer service.Joining our rapidly expanding and innovative Group presents a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and become an integral part of an inclusive, purpose-led organisation.Key responsibilities
Lead and manage the team to ensure sustainable profitable growth and retention of business in accordance with Underwriting strategy and in line with Ansvar Business Plan, underpinned by: the delivery of KPIs delivering profitable results in line with or better than planned objectives Proactively monitor and review systems and processes and implement initiatives to improve team capability and performance. Using data to identify skill and knowledge gaps and working with the Technical Underwriting Team and HR Consultant to address training needs Own caseload of underwriting work to undertaken, which may fluctuate with team requirements Planning, prioritise and manage individual and team workflow effectively to deliver outstanding service Setting and monitoring team and individual service targets and performance to maximise team performance and meet objectives Deal effectively with referrals and technical query escalations within the team, working with technical where relevant on more complex cases Ensure that appropriate risk management frameworks are embedded within the team Proactively developing commercially successful and productive relationships with brokers Plan and monitor both the technical and self-audits in conjunction with technical specialists Identify and resolve all escalated customer complaints in line with regulatory and company guidelines Motivate and lead the development and performance of staff to ensure strong underwriting capability and risk selection and a compliant, efficient service to brokers and customers; Embedding of culture, creating empowered, disciplined, high performance collaborative team Act as expert point of referral for underwriting, pricing, negotiation and service, cascading technical expertise
Operate in line with Ansvar control environment (inc agreed authorities, business standards), risks management framework and UK regulatory and compliance requirements; Ensure retention of underwriting records in line with regulatory requirements and Group UW/Centre of Excellence Underwriting Standards Identify, resolve and where appropriate escalate risks to the business Resolve complaints and breaches in line with company policy
Promote Ansvar’s brand, values and reputation in its markets and with customers, suppliers and partners by having visible and credible market presence Provide managerial support by acting flexibly across the areas of the business providing customer support Provide project support as required Undertake effective recruitment process Knowledge, skills and experience
Minimum Dip ACII qualified or working towards within an agreed timeframe
Strong people management skills with experience of leading, managing and engaging successful underwriting/customer service teams within commercial insurance Significant experience in property and casualty underwriting Confident and influential communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels, able to build effective relationships and influence key stakeholders, both internally and externally
Excellent analytical and numerical skills with experience of analysing data and MI reporting
Change management experience
Demonstrable market and industry knowledge
