The Exeter Oncology Centre has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Therapeutic Radiographer with clinical and leadership experience to join us in a team lead role with responsibilities for Brachytherapy and Service Quality Management.You will act as an expert Practitioner within the Brachytherapy service, providing clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of timely and high-quality patient care. We also offer primary care services, a range of specialist community services, and Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARC).Our state-of-the-art equipment, leading technologies and strong links to local universities put us at the forefront of research and innovations, enabling us to provide world-class care to our local communities.Its never been a more exciting time to join the Royal Devon, as youll help to shape our services as we continue along our integration journey.Job responsibilitiesFor more information on the Job Description and Responsibilities please click the link below.More detail about the role:Your role within the teamYou will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise and leadership in the supervision and support of the day to day delivery of the Brachytherapy service, working with the wider Brachytherapy team to ensure the provision of a high quality, safe and efficient service for patients.You will play a key role in the strategic development and implementation of novel Brachytherapy treatment techniques and technologies.You will be designated as a classified worker according to the Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) for the purpose of brachytherapy treatment delivery.You will lead in the administration of the ISO 9001 QMS and in the implementation of the internal audit schedule to demonstrate compliance against the ISO standard.You will provide expertise in all aspects of work relating to clinical governance to include risk management, management of non-conformance, continual improvement and error investigation.You will participate in all areas of staff management, to include supervision, recruitment, training and competency assessment, appraisal and performance management.About the department and teamThe Oncology Centre is a light, clean and modern space located on the ground floor level of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust site in Exeter.The centre benefits from a charity-run shop providing refreshments to patients and colleagues. Plus, theres an on-site restaurant, cafes, a take-away service and Boots.The friendly and supportive, Therapeutic Radiographer team is over 40 people strong, and is focused on delivering exceptional patient focused care and treatment. On average 100 patients are treated and supported by the department on a daily basis.Following a recent refreshment programme we have the following equipment and systems:an Eclipse planning systemVarian Aria administration systemBrachytherapy servicesThe external beam radiotherapy service is paperless, utilising the Varian Aria administration system for service delivery. We offer a wide range of Brachytherapy services including interstitial prostate, gynae and oesophageal treatments.Our service has undergone significant transformation over the past few years, including the commissioning of a wide range of SABR indications and the implementation of portal dosimetry.Further imaging and treatment developments are ongoing, to include 4DCBCT, gated CBCT and 6 DoF couch tops.The Royal Devon is passionate about research and innovation, the team are actively involved in a broad range of clinical radiotherapy trials. Since autumn 2020 the service has been using an electronic patient record, Epic.Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. Our department operates an extended working day, and so the ability to work flexibly to participate in shift working to cover service hours is essential.
