Tradewind SEND are currently recruiting for an ASC Teaching Assistant for a special needs school in Barnet. This ASC Teaching Assistant position is full time and will start immediately following a successful trial day/interview. The school are looking to hire on a long-term basis for the remainder of the academic year with a view to securing a permanent contract.

The role of an ASC Teaching Assistant is fulfilling and varied with multiple responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher during lessons with the educational and social needs of pupils
  • Support in preparing classrooms, lessons and resources
  • Education support in both 1:1 and group work settings with students
  • Support in phonics, to engage students and ensure their progress

Due to the students' needs and ASC there is a focus on developing Social Skills in lessons, during exercise and in group sessions improving life skills and communication skills.

What are we looking for?

  • Aspiring Pastoral Workers, Child Psychologists, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, SALTs, Counsellors, and Social Workers
  • A passion for working with children with autism
  • Ideally previous experience supporting children with autism in any environment; personal, education or care
  • Personable and caring personality
  • Previous support role within a school or other child related experience.
  • Trained in or prior use of the Attention Autism Approach, PECS, TEACCH, ABA and or SPELL.
  • A caring and professional manner
  • Must have legal right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service.
