Dunbar Education is looking to recruit for a Teaching 1:1 and General Classroom Assistant to start Immediately.

This is a full-time role with the hours of 8:30am-4pm and will be long-term.

The Primary School is located west of Bedford.

The main duties of the role will be to support the child, support the class teacher and support the school.

  • To provide learning support for the children in class or during intervention sessions either; 1:1, in a small group, or as part of a whole class activity

  • To develop knowledge of the needs of the child and seek advice from the Class Teacher, SENCo and external support agencies, when required.
  • To aid access to the full range of learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and provide modified materials as required, e.g., worksheets, scaffolds, games, prompts etc.
  • To make or modify resources as suggested and advised by the SENCo, Class Teacher or External Support Agencies.
  • To be involved in the planning and preparation of the day-to-day class activities.
  • To organise and maintain an inclusive learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.
  • To work as part of a team to ensure that the well-being and personal development of the children enhances their learning opportunities and life skills.

  • oTo attend planning meetings with the Class Teacher and SENCo to develop learning programmes and to assist in the delivery of the individuals' Learning programmes daily to promote learning, behaviour, and communication skills.
  • To participate in relevant professional development as deemed appropriate by the needs of the child.

  • To understand and apply the school policies on Child Protection and Safeguarding, learning and behaviour, and the Statutory guidelines relating to the Equality Act and Special Educational Needs;

The ideal candidate will have 6 months minimum experience working in a Primary School, Level 2 childcare/SEN/Teaching Assistant certification or the equivalent, great understanding of SEN needs including education, health and care plan.
