Position: Maternity Cover Maths Teacher
School: All Girls Grammar Secondary
Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Contract Duration: September 2024 - May 2025
Salary: Pay to Scale - MPS/UPS (Both welcome)

Dunbar Education is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated full-time Mathematics teacher to join a prestigious all girls grammar secondary school for a maternity cover position. This role is ideal for an individual with a genuine interest in teaching Maths and a commitment to engaging highly motivated students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching 43 hour-long lessons per fortnight (40 for ECTs and pro-rata for part-time).
  • Actively contributing to lesson plans and curriculum development.
  • Assigning and marking work and tests.
  • Managing students effectively in the classroom.
  • Communicating regularly with parents.
  • Taking on the role of a form tutor and meeting with the tutor group daily.
  • Attending departmental and whole staff meetings and training sessions.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be able to teach Mathematics to well-mannered, able, and motivated students across all years in the lower school and at A-level.
  • Have a strong classroom presence and effective teaching strategies.
  • Show potential for professional growth and curriculum contribution.
  • Be familiar with monitoring and evaluating teaching and learning processes.
  • Be committed to co-curricular and cross-curricular activities.

Experience & Professional Attributes:

  • Strong classroom teaching skills.
  • Potential for progression within the teaching profession.
  • Contribution to curriculum developments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and awareness of current subject developments, such as Mastery of Mathematics.
  • Keen interest in curriculum development and personal career growth.
  • Proficiency in ICT, particularly with G-Suite for educational use.
  • Evidence of systematic professional development.
  • A thorough understanding and commitment to safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications:

  • QTS preferred, but considerable teaching experience without QTS will be considered.

Support for ECTs:

This position is suitable for Early Careers Teachers (ECTs), with support available to complete the full year of training despite the nine-month contract.
