We are seeking to appoint a talented Film and Television (Animation) teacher for September 2024. We want you to inspire students to understand and love your subject, achieve outstanding results and help our students become equipped to join the screen industries or progress to higher education when they leave us. This role will be teaching across our Level 3 Vocational course for Post 16 students and is offered as a genuine alternative to A level Film & Media.About the roleTeacher of Film & TV (Animation)We are looking for a well-rounded, innovative and creative Film & Television (Animation) teacher with specialised experience in post-production to join an established department delivering an exciting holistic Film & Television Production course supported by major industry partners.We are keen to hear from teachers with backgrounds in industry, as this course will have a strong industry focus with students working to create moving image work that is to industry standards.Role Responsibilities will include:Cultivate LSA’s Vision and embed its Values across every aspect of the schoolWork closely with the Assistant Principal, Head of Department and other Film and TV Teachers todevelop and teach the curriculum including schemes of work and assessment materialsTake on additional responsibilities within the department related to a curriculum areaCollaborate with LSA’s industry partners to provide learning experiences and opportunities thatalign with LSA’s Vision and ValuesRegularly collect and use data and other contextual information to evidence student progresstowards intended outcomes and engage with target setting, differentiation, monitoring andinterventionTake an honest and open approach to teaching practice and welcome opportunities for feedbackand developmentPlay an active pastoral role as an Academy Tutor ensuring that our students emotional and socialneeds are met and that they feel part of our overall communityEngage with LSA Enrichment by providing opportunities for learning outside of the typicalcurriculumSafeguard the wellbeing of all studentsQualificationsQualified Teacher Status (Desirable)ExperienceAble to provide evidence of high performance of successful Animation teaching/training across all ability ranges;Experience of using data and other contextual information to inform practice;Track record of achieving outstanding results;Experience of working in a values driven environment (desirable).SkillsArt and Design or Digital Media background;Outstanding classroom practice with a proven record of ensuring the excellent progression across all abilities;Willingness to engage with high profile film industry partners and facilitate Master Classes;Experience with animation software (Adobe Suite, Procreate, Toonboom, Maya, Blender);Proficiency in 2D animation practice, theory and concepts including storyboarding, design, drawing and concept art;Excellent organisation and planning skills;Skilled at implementing a culture of high expectations and achievement;An understanding of the importance of high quality feedback;Confidence in differentiating for students with SEND;Able to innovate to achieve ambitious outcomes.CharacteristicsTakes a proactive approach to their professional work and regularly goes the extra mile;Engaging and able to quickly build rapport with young people;Passionate about using LSA’s Vision to deliver outstanding outcomes;Able to establish good working relationships with staff, Trainees, parents and other relevantstakeholders including external agencies;Takes an honest, respectful and empathetic approach to people and situations;Willing to have a strong, open and honest relationship with colleagues;A belief in the capacity for achievement in spite of circumstance;A collaborative commitment to CPD and strengthening pedagogy; andA strong aptitude for learning to continuously develop personally and professionally.Members, please ensure you login to access the application link
